The Convent surrounded by nature in the Amerine hills. The RELIGIOUS complex is three kilometers from Amelia and was built in the 15th century on a pre-existing hermitage.The convent belongs to the Franciscans and consists of a beautiful courtyard and the church whose simple and unadorned interior has an Annunciation painted by Bruschi. Originally, the church kept the famous “Gardner Annunciation” painted in 1481 by Pier Matteo d’Amelia and now exhibited in the Gardner Museum in Boston.
The convent also hosts a cloister, a Planetarium, which reproduces some astronomical phenomena, and a magnificent Permanent Nativity Scene, made in plaster by the famous Spanish crib Juan Marì Oliva.
